The collection contains the manuscripts of "Supplication," "The answer" and four other poems or fragments. Correspondence discusses an attempt to publish a sketch in "Putnam's Monthly," her disappointment that "The Independent" published only a few of her poems, and efforts to build a free library in Rutland, Vt. She also thanks a critic for a favorable review, mentions another by George Ripley, and thanks Lydia Avery Coonley (later Ward) for a copy of her book "Under the pines."
